The Fifth Conference on Computational Humanities Research (CHR2024) took place in Aarhus from December 4–6, 2024, bringing together scholars exploring the use of computational methods in humanities research. The conference featured discussions on digital archives, text mining, and challenges in working with data.
At CHR2024, we presented part of our work (see Conference Paper) from the JobAds project (FWF P35783). Our poster focused on the biases introduced at different stages of data processing — ranging from newspaper selection and page segmentation to OCR errors and post-correction. We demonstrated how these biases shape research outcomes and discussed methodological strategies to mitigate their impact for a more accurate historical analysis.
